DESCRIPTION
ISDN (Integrated
Service Digital Network) is the most convenient and economical
way to use the existing copper wire for both voice and data
communication. ISDN, with its digitized technology, provides
high quality service for voice conversation and data transmission
such as file transfer Internet access.
With the
new ITU-T I.430 2B+D worldwide standard, bulk data transmission
has been up rated to 128K. The ISDN not only provides 128K
transmission but also allows voice conversation and fast Internet
Access simltaneously. The new BOD (Bandwidth On Demand) function
allows the user to utilize the bandwidth in a more flexible
fashion. Upon request, it can release one B-Channel for user
to make an incoming or outgoing call while both B-Channels
are occupied by data application (ML-PPP). Upon finishing
the voice call, it will recover the bandwidth to 128K.
Supplementary
services, such as call waiting, call transfer, call forwarding,
three-party conference, call filtering, calling number display
etc. are also supported. The ISDN can also be used as
leased line backup for Inter-Networking solution. Compared
with the traditional leased line, ISDN is more economical
and flexible. Therefore, the it can be expanded not only for
the end and SOHO (Small Office Home Office) users but also
for more and more operation in the future.
